Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about your Wadi Rum journey

General Questions

Yes, Wadi Rum is generally a very safe destination for tourists. As local Bedouin guides, we are experienced and know the desert well. General travel precautions should always be taken, but specific safety concerns within Wadi Rum are minimal when traveling with a registered guide.
Wadi Rum can be visited year-round. The most popular times are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when temperatures are moderate. Winter can be cold, especially at night, but offers clear skies. Summer can be very hot during the day.
Yes, there is an entry fee for the Wadi Rum Protected Area of typically 5 JD per person, paid at the Visitor Center upon arrival. This is not included in our tour prices unless otherwise stated. With a Jordan Pass, entry is included.

Preparation & Packing

We recommend: Comfortable hiking shoes, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a light jacket for evenings, reusable water bottle, personal toiletries and a small towel for overnight stays. And of course a camera for the stunning landscape!
Wear loose, light clothing that protects from the sun. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts are recommended for hikes. Bring something warm for evenings as it can get cool in the desert at night. Respectful clothing is appreciated (not too revealing).

Tours & Activities

For camp overnights, you sleep in private goat-hair tents with comfortable mattresses, pillows, and blankets. Sanitary facilities are shared. For "Sleeping Under the Stars," we provide mattresses and blankets at a protected outdoor location.
We serve traditional Bedouin cuisine. Lunch on full-day tours is freshly prepared in the desert. For dinner at camp, enjoy Zarb (underground-cooked meat and vegetables) with salads, rice, and bread. Vegetarian options are available on request – please let us know in advance.
